Flipside just wrapped up our latest project shooting new additions to the Spring 2025 Collection of Dallas-based fashion brand Carla Rockmore. We’ve been the company’s product photography provider since late 2023 when we were contacted about helping to refresh and elevate the look and feel of this young fashion company.

Carla’s rise in the past couple of years from pandemic TikTok sensation to thriving fashion entrepreneur has been amazing to watch, and Flipside Studios is proud to be a part of this continuing story. For Flipside, capturing the unique colors, textures, and designs of Carla’s product line - handbags, apparel, jewelry - can be challenging, and demands our high level skill and studio product photography experience.

We look forward to continuing to partner with Carla to deliver strong, elegant, and enticing product images.

Guest Blog Post and New Gallery of Apple 360° Product Spins

John has written a guest article for the blog of 360 photography software maker WebRotate 360 about his decade as Apple’s 360 product demo photographer.

Along with the article, he has launched a cool new gallery - The Apple 360° Gallery by Flipside Studios - with some of the Apple 360s that have been updated from the original QTVR platfrom to HTML5 so they can function on current devices.

Flipside continues to work remotely with our Bay Area clients from new home base, Austin TX. Last week we shot 8 new backpacks for our longtime client, San Francisco based Mission Workshop. Backpack Drama for AER SF

We switched up our client AER SF’s white background product shots and have produced a series of dramatically lit, dark background images for their X-PAC line of bags.

Our San Francisco client, Yellow Leaf Hammocks, asked us to do our 360° magic and create a GIF animation of their beautifully designed Throne hammock hanging system.

It took our 4 years of experience shooting all of their hammock product images to engineer a way to give the hammock the desired shape and keep hidden the rigging as it turns 360°.

Stop Motion Ads for AER SF

Little did I know then that my childhood stop motion filmmaking adventures would come in handy when my clients at San Francisco-based backpack company AER SF wanted to create some cool stop-motion ads for Instagram. I jumped at the chance!

360° Product Spins for Mission Workshop

Our client, Mission Workshop asked Flipside to make 360° GIF spins for some of their backpack products. 360° photography is a valuable and engaging way to show customers the quality and features of uniquely designed products on any mobile or other devices.

It was a bit of a styling and rigging challenge, but the results were great - if we do say so ourselves! Check a couple of the spins out:

New Baby Sleep Device Product Photos

Flipside recently worked again with Bay Area based Adaptive Sound Technologies (ASTI) producing product photos for the launch of their newest device, the LectroFan Kinder. The small device plugs into an outlet, and with a smarphone app, parents can choose between a variety of soothing sounds and colors of light.

New product photos for Stilo stylus.

Bay Area startup, Stilo, makes "a stylus for the rest of us" (to borrow from an early Apple tagline!). They wanted to upgrade their website product images and came to Flipside for help.

Working with the client and their agency, Parker-Lambert, we created a series of desktop still lifes, product hero shots, and hand model shots that present the elegant product design of the Stilo pens.

Lending a hand to client, SanDisk. Sorry for the bad pun ;^)

Flipside recently completed a product photography project for memory maker SanDisk. We produced 22 shots with hands holding their products, and another 18 shots presenting the products in a stylized environment. You can see our hand model at work in a blog post from April 18, 2016.

Apparel Shoot for Mission Workshop

During the last year or so, Flipside Studios has been providing dramatic product photography and 360° demos of many backpacks and bag styles for our client, MIssion Workshop.

Now it's apparel time! For our latest project, we photographed laydowns of new jackets, shirts, and pants. These products will be launching soon.

Adaptive Sound Technologies videos and product photos

Working with marketing firm Parker-Lambert, Flipside has been helping Bay Area based Adaptive Sound Technologies (ASTI) improve the quality of their marketing content with product videos and still product photos for display on retail ecommerce sites like Walmart.com and Amazon.

ASTI was founded in 2008 and makes the best-selling sound machines for improving sleep. ASTI website.

New Client, Mission Workshop - SF maker of technical bags and apparel

Flipside is excited to be providing product photography for our new client, Mission Workshop, based in San Francisco. Founded in 2009, the company is having great success with their line of high quality USA made "technical lifestyle cycling bags and apparel".

Mission Workshop's goal is to replace their current website product photography with images that are more consistent in look and styling, and have dramatic and edgy lighting. Styling soft goods like messenger bags and backpacks for product photos can be very challenging. Maintaining a consistent shape from item to item is not an easy task, but with skill, patience, and the right materials, Flipside has been able get good results.
